CIENCIAS 2020-

International Science Day Celebration

World Science Day for Peace and Development is an international day that highlights the important role that science has in society and is celebrated each year on November 10. It also highlights the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. World Science Day was proclaimed by UNESCO in 2001 and celebrated for the first time in 2002. By linking science more closely with society, World Science Day aims to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science. It also underscores the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of the planet we call home and in making our societies more sustainable.

As part of world science day, in this pandemic situation, we conducted an international science day celebration led by our union ‘Lakshya’. The program was named CIENCIAS. Google meet was the platform of the program. This program had two parts; ‘INTERACTION WITH INTERNATIONAL LECTURES’ and ‘ALL KERALA LEVEL COMPETITION EVENTS’. Inauguration of this program was done by Mr. Yadhu Krishna, Research Assistant & Ph.D. Research Scholar in Physics, University of Tennessee, USA. The keynote was given by DR. K S Sajan, Asst. Professor, NSS Training College, Ottapalam, Palakkad. The topic was “Trauersing Science on Virtual Platform: Creating a Notion on  Augmented Reality for student teachers”.

After the inaugural section, competition for B.Ed. students were started. Programs like online quiz, scientist inside (Delineation of scientists with word and appearance), Junior Science Expo (for school students), Digital Poster Making, e-Content Preparation were conducted. Students from different B.Ed. collage participated. This program was very successful.
